Orange County has substantial economic and social ties with Hong Kong, both regions are headquarters of multi-national companies such as the Disney Theme Park as well as forrunners in the fast-growing biotechnology and information technology industries. With the mission to promote understanding of Hong Kong and to optimize networking opportunities among the Orange County business community, under the leadership of HKASC Orange County Chapter Chair Dennis Lee, and other chapter executives (Christopher Leu, Tim Hutton, Simon Pang and Phoebe Wong), a diversity of value-added programs are organized for HKASC members and friends of Hong Kong in Orange County including the first luncheon with former Executive Director of HKTDC, Mr. Michael Sze, in July 2002 (full story). To provide an extension program of the well-received HK Plus Seminar in September 2003, the HKASC Orange County Chapter partnered with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Irvine Chamber of Commerce, along with other local trade associations, to present the Hong Kong - Turning China into Opportunities seminar on Thursday, November 10, 2005, at the Irvine Marriott Hotel (18000 Von Karman Avenue Irvine, California 92612).
