Future Doctor/Lawyer Gets Early Training at CSULA

The HKASC extends congratulations to Association General Counsel Danton Mak, whose daughter Allison, at the age of nine, is currently one of the youngest attendees of the Early Entrance Program (EEP) at California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA). The EEP program, which allows gifted children to attend regular college courses and complete baccalaureate degrees within four to five years, is one of only a few accelerated education programs nationwide. Allison, whose 244 I.Q. places her above genius range, has yet to declare a major, but hopes to eventually become a doctor or a lawyer.

As Association Director James Tong mused, Danton and family have every reason to be proud, even given the possibility that six years after her college classmates receive their driver's licenses, Danton will still be dropping Allison off at the "MD office at the Cedar Sinai Hospital or the California Superior Court." What is important is that Allison is pleased with the program, Danton responded. As for his career as chauffeur? "I was actually hoping she would take the bus when she's a little older."
